This class will review the basic operations of arithmetic on whole numbers, fractions and decimals. These operations will be used in dealing with ratio, proportions, percent, simple geometry and algebra. As students master these basic concepts, they will move into basic algebra. Students will be expected to understand basic operations with integers, rational numbers, irrational, and real numbers; the use of variables; properties of numbers and of equality; solving equations and inequalities; problem solving; relations and functions; and polynomials. This is a survey course of the United States from the 1600's to prior to the Civil War. Students will examine historical events through multiple accounts and perspectives. They will evaluate the accounts and question the validity to gain a better understanding of our history through critical thinking and examination of primary sources. High Interest reading with dynamic questions help students not only increase fluency but helps them analyze and understand the text. As they begin to form opinions they are happy to write both argumentative, opinion, creative and even legal briefs to express their thoughts. This class will meet twice a week, one day is dedicated to the writing block and the second day is devoted to the literature and analysis.

Visualize. Play. Investigate. In this project-based class students will develop mathematical and reasoning skills by investigating the connections between mathematical ideas. Students will learn to organize and record their discoveries and share them in a convincing way. This class is open to students of all mathematical abilities. Every project covered is designed to be low-floor, high ceiling. Students of varying levels, no matter what his or her prior understanding or knowledge, can engage and be deeply challenged. In this hands on experiential history class students will build their own pretend country while learning about the formation of the United States. We will be reading the book “How To Build Your Own Country” and using it as a guide for our journey. Students will design a flag for their country while learning about Betsy Ross and our Nation’s first flag. The Constitution will be introduced and used as a reference for students to create their own individual constitutions. Through humor, creativity and play students will learn about our country’s history in a memorable way. Cost per quarter $375
For younger elementary students the largest stumbling block for young writers is concentrating on the writing itself. Instead of stagnating the creative process we support the writing process and watch the creativity and joy flow. Students engage, writes stories on one day and then read, discuss and analyze their books on the second day. Minimum 6 students, maximum 10. Cost per quarter $375
A TEDx Talk is a showcase for speakers presenting great, well-formed ideas in under 18 minutes. This short talk model works, since it only demands the audience's attention for a short period of time, decreasing the chance of minds wandering or daydreaming about lunch. In fact, some of our greatest TED Talks have been as short as 5 minutes long, think Gettysburg Address. Students will learn about debate style, the multiple purposes of speech, voice intonation, eye contact and command presence. Minimum 5 students maximum 10. Cost $250 per quarter (grades 5-10)

In this exciting class students will learn valuable skills such as drawing human anatomy and musculature, that will help them create superheroes and cartoons of their own. Children will complete multiple drawings using colored pencils, makers and graphite and be encouraged to create stories to go along with their hero's. Minimum 6 students maximum 12 - $250 per quarter
Critical Thinking through SOLE. SOLE is a Self Organized Learning Environment. Students will be examining BIG, open-ended questions in a collaborative environment on topics they are excited to choose and study. An introductory finance and entrepreneurship class for elementary (minnows) and 6-8 (MS) students. Using real life examples and creative role playing, students will be introduced to a variety of concepts including budgeting, saving, spending, investing, and taxes. In the second half of the course students will learn how to develop a business from concept to creation. Students will share their business plans with potential investors at the end of the course. Named after a Pulitzer Prize winning American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg machines are elaborate and often wild contraptions that solve simple tasks. Students will invent, create, destroy and tinker while creating progressively more involved and complex Rube Goldberg machines. Working both individually and collaboratively students will be challenged to build “beyond the box” and fail forward. When failure is paired with perseverance it eventually leads to success. This class is merged with game theory. The first quarter is game theory and the second quarter is spent building our machines. Minimum 6 students, maximum 10.
In this board game class students will study the principles of strategic decision making, probability, and luck. After learning the science and math behind the games students will put into practice what they have learned playing games such as Chess, Battleship, Connect 4 and Catan. Students choosing this option will spend the first first 1/4 learning strategic design and the second quarter is building the Rube Goldberg Machines.

A safe and exciting introduction into dance and theatre. Students will always be moving as they progress through different types of dance and then practice speech, voice intonation and expression in fun theatre productions.

Scratch Coding is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and have fun.

52 weeks of family Spanish - with the goal of communication we focus on and practicing phrases, conversation skills with fun and engaging activities. Students will eat, drink and shop only using Spanish as they progress from basic to detailed discussions.
